February 2021 Review
Best Way To Accept Payments Online
Accepting payments doesn’t need to be hard. Both Checkout.com and Square enable websites to accept payments in a single system, enabling revenue growth online, on mobile devices and at the point of sale. We review a couple of market leaders and call out their strengths and weaknesses below.
#1: Checkout – offers a month-to-month contract with no early termination fee, no monthly fees, and no other fees besides its per-transaction pricing.
#2 Square – Higher payment costs, 2.6 (+10c) to 3.5% (+15c)
Our Conclusion
Checkout is our top choice as they have a global coverage, and help you offer more payment methods and currencies, to more customers. Checkout.com focuses on enterprise clients with customers all around the world. It provides a full-stack payment service, from accepting transactions, processing them and detecting fraud. It helps with reconciliation thanks to an API and a reporting hub.
Square, is geared towards new businesses who want to take advantage of technology, but who don’t need the all the extra capabilities and features they won’t use.
However, there are steps that Checkout users can take to level the playing field when it comes to price. When you need to scale, Checkout actually end up being more affordable.
Checkout offers more flexiblity because it has global coverage and all popular payment methods . Checkout seems to offer more out-of-the-box features at no extra costs, which is why we liked it over Square.

MailChimp is a good second choice being an all-in-one Marketing Platform for small business with a smaller feature set, and Marketo is on our last spot due to their higher plan pricing although they have grown into a leader in marketing automation.
All of them monetise users and marketing automation, and in that regard you could start at the beginning of the list and work down to see which one suits you best.
